iPhones are cool

My friend Katie showed me a cool app! Hipstamatic, it makes your photos all vintage and artsy

I've already spied Seth Green using this app on his twitter. :) He seems like a bit of a hipster.

Zombies!

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've been working on a zombie illustration for school. I've been trying to draw a lot of zombies to get myself revved up for my large scale final illustration, including some zombie Derpy's on flockdraw, and my friend Katie all classy-like.

Of course I've been doing non-zombie drawings on flockdraw also. :)

Honestly, I feel like I'm in a bit of a rut. Mostly because I'm avoiding the shit out of my zombie project. This is really the same familiar feeling I get whenever I have no idea what the hell I'm doing. Falling back on some traditional studies help, but I really just need to stop being such a wuss and just DRAW!

Have I mentioned I enrolled in a schoolism class with Bobby Chiu this summer? HELL YES I'M EXCITED! I have yet to take a digital painting class, and I am psyched to finally get a little direction. I wanna be, the very best . . .  Practicing digital can be daunting sometimes, because there is such an infinite spectrum of techniques it's often confusing to figure out how to tackle a picture with no guidance. Sometimes I like to just throw a lot of textures on a drawing, then pretend it looks good! I call it a "texture doodle".

Hmm, maybe I re-use textures too much!

Well, I've always got Derpcraft.

Where have the days gone?

Oh yeah, minecraft. I've been stuck to my computer for the past week tediously gathering materials, building structures, and avoiding certain death (and a 20 min walk from the SMP spawn to my house!). What's the payback anyways? Well, infinite possibility I guess. The glory of minecraft is in it's total sandbox nature. You can spend your whole time mining and searching for precious ore, you can build elaborate structures and houses, slay monsters, go on adventures with your friends, hunt animals, the list goes on...

I'm pretty proud of my cute little cottage!

The bedroom, dubbed, "The Sex Room"

The kitchen, complete with secret basement entrance behind the paintings!

My lovely outdoor hot tub, heated by lava.

;)

Minecraft isn't complete without custom avatars, and I've made my share. This is Derpy, who seems to be infecting my brain lately.

Of course I'm still obsessed with MLP!!! I've actually been glued to the MLP flockdraw, and I don't think I'll be leaving anytime soon.

It's a little addictive!

I've got a very large scale project in the works right now. Here's a hint: ZOMBIES! Lots and lots of zombies!!! The only thing that would push me to be so masochistic and dream up such a large project is, of course, my awesome illustration professor.  He's been helping me break some bad drawing habits lately, and I've been doing some exciting stuff for him! My past series of illustrations for Little Red Riding hood came out really nice, but of course I used the wrong paper for my ink painting! And, of course I used to wrong paper the second time I painted it! D'OH!!

Here's a bad photo of one of the images, I will take it out of the mat and scan it eventually .. .. .. Also a pony doodle and secret sneak peak of some zombie sketches!

Did I mention that I love Apple Jack? <3 Yeah, I'll probably do all the ponies in this style at some point. I just can't help myself!

i think i derp'd

I'm finally making the leap... I'm deleting World of Warcraft (and any other video games) from my laptop and using it primarily for art related stuff. Honestly, it wasn't a very hard decision since the "cataclysmically" large patch 4.0 was too large to install anyways. (Unless I did a clean install.. But, dammit, do I really need another reason to play WoW?) As I was purging I found a few old scrap drawings that I never finished.

In other news, me and my boyfriend have really been riding this pony buzz. He bought me some hilarious and cute MLP toys for Valentine's Day, and I've been particularly entertained by the "bubble blowing" Pinkie Pie toy. I really amuse myself sometimes.

PONKY POO

From the sketchbook:

Meanwhile, my owl obsession continues...

Every once in a while I find myself googling or browsing for random owl products. What am I becoming?! I don't know, some kind of owl person I guess. For a long time I used a pseudonym on and off the internet. ( "Shiro" ) Don't ask me why, I'm sure I had some weird reason. Well, I'm embracing the accountability and notoriety that come with using your real name on the internet now. Despite all that, I still find myself tossing around possible aliases in my head. The whole owl mania has inspired the name "Owl Toast". (Based off the name of a pub in MA, "The Toasted Owl".)  I'm still trying to figure out an application for it, but in the meantime I'll just continue ogling cutesy owl merchandise.

Pikachu

I have always been/am/will be obsessed with Pikachu. FACT. I've drawn so many incarnations of Pikachu ranging from disney-esque, realistic, to monstrous "dire" version. I'm not really sure what inspired me to, but here's some sickeningly cute chibi Pikas I doodled up last night.

Just to keep with the Pikachu theme, this is a drawing I did last semester:
